Kanti Tomorrow
Future developments
In 2005, KCH will increase its capacity by 200 beds. These will be used to provide sub-specialties including orthopaedics and ear/nose/throat (ENT). It is noted that cardiology will be developed under the guidance of Dr. Anne Wedemeyer (Paediatric Cardiologist, an Institute of Medicine visitor from the USA). So far she has been instrumental in helping to run Cardiology OPD and Cardiology Ward and with this help KCH has been able to operate these facilities since 1998. In particular she has assisted in obtaining a colour Doppler echocardiography machine. This drive towards continuous improvement and development is characteristic of KCH.Within the last few years KCH has been able to instigate a National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS) postgraduate programme for paediatrics. Besides this, a number of new OPD services have been launched, including a child development centre, nutrition, oncology, Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) and nephrology. Anyone interested in the activities of the Kanti Children's Hospital may contact the centre at the address given (See. 4.1, section1).
Notes
a) Patients in fee paying beds must pay for their stay - for their food and for their medicines and any investigations required.c) SICU, NICU and PICU are all fee paying beds. In special circumstances non fee paying patients can be admitted to these beds.
